Work books
Since about 2005 I have been drawing painting, writing, planning in A4 black work books.
I use them like a visual diary: I stick in everything that appeals to or inspires me,
from newspaper articles to brochures, photos, maps, drawings etc.
I write down my thoughts, my ideas and draw sketches.
When I finished a series or block of art work I stick in the prints of my art work.
Sometimes I come back to the same stories from a different angle and see
that I am drawn to similar aesthetics or trains of thought over the years.
I have filled about 30 of these books,
and I truly recommend this practice for every artist.
It's time consuming but also very rewarding.
Not forgetting all the ideas and concepts one had is reassuring
and anyway: they're nice too look at! Here are some pages...
