About 11 years ago I started using these A4 black work books.
            I use them like a  visual diary: I stick in everything that appeals to or inspires me,
            from newspaper articles to brochures, photos, maps, drawings etc.
            I write down my thoughts, my ideas and draw sketches.
            When I finished a series or block of art work I stick in the prints of my art work.
          
            Sometimes I come back to the same stories from a different angle and see
            that I am drawn to similar aestetics or trains of thought over the years.

            I have filled about 20 of these books, (I now separate into painting, textiles and ceramics)
            and I truly recommend this practice for every artist.
            I
t's time consuming but also very rewarding.
            Not forgetting all the ideas and concepts one had is reassuring
            and anyway: they're nice too look at! Here are some pages...
